Draft versions of some of the pages of last weekend's photos, so far only photos from Friday and Saturday. They include some very similar photos which will probably get weeded before the finished versions, also I haven't checked hyperlinks to larger versions yet and there are one or two photos that I'm going to have to revisit now I see them alongside others.

And so the first day of Chevron 7.9 arrives, well it 'arrived' too early for me this morning - I'd fallen asleep around my usual weekday time yesterday evening so this morning I was wide awake at 4 am!  I somehow doubt I'll manage to stay awake that late this evening, yes there is a party I could go to but if I'm tired I'm tired and sleep is required.  It is one drawback of the end of summer term and the clocks changing, my body stays on summer time even if I try to sleep later and all for quite some time afterwards.

New camera arrived on Wednesday, had a little play with it that evening and some more yesterday.  It doesn't 'feel' that different to the last one, okay a few of the controls are slightly different so it's just try things out and see what I get. Not sure how many photos I'm likely to take over the weekend so have packed as many sets of AA sized batteries as I've got (and ordered another box of 40 online last night) as I've no idea yet how greedy (or otherwise) new camera really is with them.

I may or may not post over the weekend, I did manage a test post on LJ a few days ago which worked fine, and if I do I suspect I'll just do it on LJ so if you're only reading my posts on DW I apologize.

2 weeks until Chevron 7.9
14 days of which there are 8 working days - does that mean the con is soon?

I've just posted AYAMV on my website, along with the version of AYAMIV that leads into it.

Time to move on to writing something else ...

sazandra: (captured)
This morning I did a little more work on AYAMV and I wrote two little words: The end.

Okay they were then followed by a question mark because I'm not 100% it's really the end of the fic, it definitely needs an epilogue to tie up a few bits.  As for the end of the series?  Eh no - there's a plot bunny that's been around a while and really needs to be committed to paper.

Once it really is finished I still need to go through it from beginning to end before I consider unleashing it on an unsuspecting world so no holding your breath please.

Got an email from Olympus today about the shiny new SP-820UZ camera that they're bringing out.

40x optical zoom!
Yes I did type that correctly: 40x optical zoom.
AA batteries (can buy them just about anywhere)
Okay it would require buying some new memory cards since they've moved on to SD type rather than xD that my (now over 5 year old) SP-550UZ uses and no view finder, just screen on the back but I very rarely use the view finder anyway.

Googled it and one site said scheduled to go on sale from the end of September 2012 priced at £279.99.
I have a convention to go to first weekend of November ...

Yes you've got it, me wants!
Me thinks I'll be asking family for contributions towards it for my birthday.

Only 16 weeks to go until Chevron 7.9 :)
Yes I am wishing away what is still a very soggy summer.

What I forgot to post last night was that on my way into Marks & Spencer to buy food yesterday I walked past something that caught my eye
Foil Star Print Lightweight Scarf  neither photo on their website really does it justice.

As I paid for my food I thought yes I do want to take another look so back to the front of the shop to take a better look and yes I did get myself one :) It's not exactly something I have a great need of but it's pretty to look at.  Will I be able to remember where I've put it by November when I'm packing for Chevron 7.9?  Probably not.

I've got to the stage that if I hear another person on TV or radio say 'once in a lifetime event' about the b*****y olympics I will hit something. grrrrrr

Saturday and the right side of my neck is almost back to normal :)
Am almost certain this has just been me getting very run down.

Last day of the month and dad's weather station shows we've had just over 6 inches (about 15.5 cm) of rain this month and it could go up a bit more since the forecast is for some rain later today. Looking at the weather map on the BBC website it shows rain to the west of this afternoon so we could get some at any time. At least we haven't had the torrential storms and flash flooding that have occurred elsewhere recently.

Following on from yesterday's post, Thames Water are ending the hosepipe ban from midnight tonight :) Does this mean the weather might improve? Around the time they brought the restrictions in the weather went downhill.

Today there is actually some sunshine and blue sky along with rather a lot of big clouds but at least it isn't bucketing down with rain like yesterday. Yes the weather realized the bank holiday had been moved so was okay last weekend then did the usual trick of being lousy this weekend. All I'm going to say is the Queen looked pretty cold on that boat at yesterday's river pageant in London and it's a good job they had a plan b for yesterday's lunch down in the village square if it rained of putting the tables and chairs in the parish church and the nearby church halls.

We didn't go down for that though we may go down to the square for the beacon lighting tonight, providing it isn't pouring with rain again. Not sure how much there will be much to see since it will be a torch up on top of the church tower (well it is the highest point in the village) unlike other places around here where they're having a bonfire up on a nearby hill or the like.

I played join the pieces of AYAMV this morning, yes it was joined up before I revisited AYAM but, as I've said before, there was something not quite right when I came back to AYAMV. So there was this point, just over 80 pages in (80 pages in the layout I use for work in progress, not 80 pages as I'd print them to read) where a Daniel, Jack and Paul scene just didn't work or flow. I took it apart and have had several goes at piecing it back together with new bits, this morning things clicked - though I'm still umming and ahhing about one little idea that's in there, it may stay, it may come out again. There is just something about having pen and paper in front of me, unlike when I'm trying to write while typing when I often get distracted by going online etc.
