Evidence of the biggest meteorite ever to hit the British Isles has been found http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7314329.stm
They always say animals can sense a storm approaching http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/7311847.stm
From the annual bird watch each January:
National top 10 birds seen
1: House sparrow
2: Starling
3: Blackbird
4: Blue tit
5: Chaffinch
6: Woodpigeon
7: Collared dove
8: Robin
9: Great tit
10: Goldfinch
Top 10 birds seen in Oxfordshire
1 House sparrow
2 Starling
3 Blackbird
4 Blue tit
5 Chaffinch
6 Woodpigeon
7 Goldfinch
8 Great tit
9 Robin
10 Collared dove
I'm not surprised goldfinchs are higher up the top 10 around here than nationally, we see quite a few in our back garden on the feeders.
