sazandra: (Write fanfic - yappichick)
Well I finished revamping AYAM and have uploaded it to my website if anybody wants to have a read:

http://sazandra.tripod.com/fanfics/ayam_revisited.htm

I'm not saying it's perfect but I think it's an improvement and has only taken about six months to do which is pretty good going for me. It's ended up half as long again as the original (14K has become 21K).

Now all I have to do is get back to writing AYAMV.

AYAM revisted

When I posted the original version of "Another You, Another Me" online in 2002 it ran to around 14,500 words. It's already gained an extra 6,000 words and I haven't finished with it by a long way yet - a particular hole has barely been touched, so it's going to end up longer than AYAMIII was. Maybe at some point I will get back to working on AYAMV?

I had a moment of not doing things in sequence, for some reason this morning I had this idea of re-reading AYAMII, AYAMIII and AYAMIV since I hadn't read them for a while.

I read them then as something of an after thought I re-read AYAM. AYAM feels so different to me from II, III and IV - it lacks kind of the depth and detail which came to the later fics, me learning to write such stuff and not being sure about some things.

It is almost 9 years since I posted that original AYAM (looks like I released it to the world on 9th November 2002) and I just wanted to reach for a pen and start re-working bits and filling in gaps (or gapping hole in part of it) - is this the writer's version of the director's cut done years later like was done with Children of the Gods?

Other than fixing the occasional typo I haven't tweaked it since it was first posted (unlike AYAMII which got tweaked before AYAMIII was posted). Maybe I should do a printout which I can take the pen to, see how it would feel, see what I can do with it?

Has anybody else gone back to one of their earlier fics and revamped it?
